Last Human Development class for the summer 2006
June 19, 2006
Scholars,
The last round of presentations centered around “senior centers” depressed me a little … I felt like many of you were stereotyping older adults and failed to define who you were targeting your presentation too.
I am especially concerned that many of you fail to see the independence of physical and mental decline … because of that I am going to scrap my plan of looking at families tomorrow and focus on the end of the life-span and hopefully we can all learn a lesson or two about life from some older adults … and lose a few unjustified stereotypes along the way.
See you bright and early … bring coffee.
Summer class update(s)
June 16, 2006
Scholars,
Congrats to everyone in human development that made a presentation yesterday….good stuff! I look forward to the presentations on the other end of the life-span today. I’ll take care of entertaining us on Tuesday as we think about family (or more about Death and Dying).
Intro Folk…We covered thinking / cognition yesterday and will focus on intelligence today. Everyone in class yesterday suggested that we not break for lunch but keep on trucking until we get through the material….so bring some high protein snacks with you…when finished we’ll all head for the hills.
On Tuesday the intro class will take test 4 over the cognition and intelligence modules.
For both classes, the final examination will cover only what we’ve gone over in class and what you’ve been tested over. I realize that I have info on our website about topics we have not gotten to this summer. You will not be responsible for those topics, but if you have an interested it wouldn’t kill you to read the chapters.
See you later, prof_chuck

In addition, remember our rubric components:

Intro Psych will be tested over Learning and Memory.
Don’t forget to pick up your previous examinations tomorrow if you haven’t yet. I’ll try and have them with me in class.
